CCon disconnecting from TServer

Hello Genesys Gurus, so here's the situation due to some network blip in our environment one of our TServer disconnected from the CCON application.  It was never realized until 2 days later.  Long story short, we lost 2 days worth of data.  So in order to rectify the situation we had to restart ccon application; this basically rendered the data collection to occur again.

Now I'm wondering if anyone is aware of any type of specific alarming that could be setup to mitigate this type of scenario?  Ideally something that would notify us that TServer_X is no longer writing or sending events to CCON application.

Thanks,
Eugene

Hi Eugene! (Hey, my brother's name is Eugene too! Cool!)

Detecting CCon disconnects can be done in several ways. The easiest one would be to use SCI and set an alarm for Server Connect, Disconnect. If you would like a screenshot of how to do it, please tell me.

Have you checked the logs WHY CCon would disconnect from T-Server? We had a disconnect problem with CCon in 6.5, but 7 seem to be much more stable. I would strongly suggest setting addp between CCon and T-Server (you do that by clicking on T-Server connection in CCon and specifying addp and timeout equal to ten seconds)

Usually CCon would disconnect and re-connect if there is a network problem. Also, CCon would be disconnected by T-Server with "Client too slow" error if it is not responding fast enough.

Best regards,
Vic

Going along with Vic's idea of utilising SCI:

There are a few alarm reactions that you can use in SCI, for example;
- email reaction - send an email to a mailbox detailing which server has disconnected to another server
- use SNMP - link it into a performance management suite (something like netcool or tivoli), however, you need the MLSNMP license to use SNMP (another license from Genesys!!! I hear that it's not cheap either (unsurprisingly)).
- restart application - quite an obvious one this one!

In SCI there should be some standard alarms created already, you will just need to apply some reactions to them. If you need more information just post up and we will help you :]

    Thank you all for the responses.  Yes i do have addp set between CCON and TServer so I'm not sure why it didn't reconnect.  Yes setting up alarms was what I had in mind as well.  So I'm wondering if there were some specific error code I should use or some standard predefined alarm 00-04504 would suffice?  Regardless I'll tinker around.  Thanks for the reassurance guys.  Gosh I love this forum.

    Have a look in the helpfile, there are hundreds of codes that you can alarm on, some wouldn't be worthwhile, others definitely would. I think that each code has a flag for recommended to be alarmed or not (in one way or another).
