SCI - Read only access?

Is it possible to grant read only access for Solution Control Interface for v6.5?  My company would like an early morning IT associate to review the logs and notify Telecom if something is down.  We wouldn't want this person to have the ability to stop and start apps and T-servers...

I'm fresh back from FRO and FRI class, however I don't have my books with me..  Any help is appreciated.

Thanks!!!
Mike

...Try Access Groups and set the Users with Permissions to Read Only/User - I think that's all you need to do(?)

Have you considered setting up an Alert on the SCI?

  • Ok.. here's how I finally got it to work.. I created the Access Group with read only permissions and added the user to that Group and checking that they were in no other group.  I added the Access Group to the applications folder as read only in permissions.  I thought this would propogate down to all the applications within the Application folder, but it didn't.  When I went to each individual T Server and went to the Permissions properties, I added the Access Group with Read Only.

IS these any way to make the permissions propogate down thru all the Applications?

    Thanks All!

Try clicking on Application itself and assigning the access right there.

(not sure if it will work)

Unfortunately, I had to click on each app and assign the access right there.  Thanks...

    Holy thread revival Batman!

In 7.2 it seems that access rights do propogate down throughout the folders to any applications within.

However, having setup a read only access group and creating a new person (making sure that they are assigned only to the new read only access group), it seems that I can still stop and start applications within SCI.

Does anyone have Read Only SCI access working in 7.2?

    Steps taken:

    New Access group
New person - assign to access group, remove from all others
Assign read only properties to folder/application for new access group
Log in to SCI with new person
    test application

    Am I missing anything?

    Hi Mark,

You missed the special access group EVERYONE. Every person is member of this group and can't be removed from it. That group has "Read & Execute" permissions by default so every user inherits these.

I would suggest you to do some testing before changing the permissions of EVERYONE group. Maybe some Genesys application could rely on that...

    Cheers,
    René

    Hi René,

You say that everyone is in EVERYONE, but I cannot see any logins associated in there, is there any way to check people in this group (would a hyperion report show this information, or am I reliant on accessing cfg DB to see the people in the group)

Amending EVERYONE has solved the issue, Read Only is now Read Only :D

    Thanks René

    Hi Mark,

    You're welcome.

The access group EVERYONE is special group and all persons belong to that group even the group is empty (in CME). There are a few words about that in CME Help.
