hello friends,

im a genesys newbie.. and im having a basic question.

i came across genesys product manual which said "the need of assigning / referencing the DN's of particular switch to an IVR port".

Can anyone please clarify, what is the need of assigning / referencing the DN's of particular switch to an IVR port in "Configuration Manager" ?

what is the outcome of this referencing ie., what are we achieving by this referencing ?

please help me.
Jan

First of all, where did you read this? Is this a Genesys IVR like VTO or GVP maybe?
Genesys will need to know what to monitor in order to keep attached data and events on them. If you don't configure the IVR ports on the IVR it will work but forget about Genesys values for them.

Well couldn't find that text on ref or dev manuals.
So I can only guess you are talking about Framework integration, if so, you need to do exactly as the manual states so you can get URS integration with your GVP and also statistics using IVR client with IVR Tserver and IServer.

can you please explain me in detailed the flow of call ie.,

1) call comes from PSTN.
2) hits PBX and gets assigned with DN.
3) each DN is assigned to an IVR port in Genesys Configuration manager, so the call goes to this port.
4) after this what happens ????? i dont understand this portion of flow of call
5) how does the DNIS of incoming call, ie., flow of these information is made available to GVP ? i dont understand this portion of flow of call, which components sends these information to GVP ?
6) after call comes to GVP based on DNIS filter in EMPS the application is assigned based on DNIS.

please help me

Will depend a lot on your configuration, is you GVP in-front or behind-the-switch?
Are you using VCS or IPCS?

Basically Genesys needs only GVP ports on CME and a fake switch to integrate GVP with URS/StatServer, apart from that GVP can live alone.

we are using VCS for sure.

i think GVP behind pbx.

can you please give me the flow of the call as per my previous post ?

1) call comes from PSTN.
2) hits PBX and gets assigned with DN.
3) each DN is assigned to an IVR port in Genesys Configuration manager, so the call goes to this port.
4) after this what happens ???? i dont understand this portion of flow of call
5) how does the DNIS of incoming call, ie., flow of these information is made available to GVP ? i dont understand this portion of flow of call, which components sends these information to GVP ???
6) after call comes to GVP based on DNIS filter in EMPS the application is assigned based on DNIS.

can you please mention points 4 and 5 and whichever needs to be before point 6 ?

i would be very greatful if you can clarify these.

Genesys will do what your strategy tells it to do. If you play an application on URS strategy then call will go to GVP with ANI/DNIS that came from PBX and do what ever you need to do. This only if GVP is behind, if GVP is in front you get all that data directly.
Please read the reference guide - planning section, it well documented and explained.
