Hi,
I am a CGE in 5.1 but have to install and configure genesys 6.0 .
Can anybody suggest which all documents to go through to get a hang of the new stuff and new terminology of genesys 6.0.
Basically need to know how the various layers of 6.0 correspond to the components of 5.1

thanks for your time
george

  • Upgrading from 5.1 is not a bad idea, BUT you have to be careful, because except for CCON, none of the other 5.1 products can be used with 6.0 or vice versa. Needless to say, CME database is different too, thus, after upgrading, if, for any reason whatsoever, you decide to downgrade, you can't. The only choice would be using the last backup of 5.1 CME database. So, be careful.

I would wait until 6.1 get at least few upgrades before moving into it. I would skip 6.0 altogether, because I feel like it is like a byproduct of unifinished 6.1 nice features, but poor integration. A good example would bee Solution Control manager where you can see all of the environment down to the settings and graphical representaion of SOME of the connections, but you still need CME to modify the settings... If am sure there is a perfectly good explanation for this, I just don't get it.

Yes this is true you do need to get the Genesys 6.0 Documentation. basically installation is totally different actually you can do it two ways. Install using the Wizards or take your chances doing it Manul which I do not suggest. Anyways here are the different Layers

    1. Configuration Layer
    2. Configuration Layer Interface (Config Manager)
    3. Management Layer
    4. Media Layer
    5. Service Layer

If done correctly works well depends as well on which OS platform installing on.

    Have fun

Just access the Genesys support site at http://genesyslab.com/support/home/index/Default.asp. This should have most of the information you will need to do the upgrade; there is also a oneweek class in SF on migrating to G6 from G5. We were going to upgrade a couple of months ago but held off due to some internal issues. Good Luck.

I saw your post just right now, so I am not sure how useful my answer will be but I was learning G6.1 for the last three months now. The product seems to be very fun, but you have made a very good point about the documentation. So far, the best documentation I have seen about G6.x came from Vic. He had a very good document describing the installation and operation of G6.0 and G6.1 posted here a few months back. I also some additional documentation available here few weeks ago, but then it was moved away.

If you want, I can mail you my copy. The one I have is G6.1 and it was written by Vic and Jason in June of this year. Perhaps it is a little bit outdated, but it will get you going.

    Cheers,
    N.

So far i had tried to installed G6.1 components and found out that the documentations for the ICC 6.1 pdf is not accurate at all. Seems like you would need to go for the ICC 6.1 course in order to set up ICC6.1
No matter how i tried to install ICC6.1 based on what the pdf said, i got no success.
Anyone had a documentations on installing the ICC6.1 except for the pdf found in the genesys cd.

by the way, there is no links in the Reports section to downloads the reports.
