I've heard it's possible to set up Genesys TServer to provide multiple ports for different DN groups, Does anyone know how to do this.

Thanks, Bill

  • Can you share that info with me too?
I think it would be great, but, looking through the manual, I have not heard of anything like that...

  • Hi, Bill,

if you mean TServer can provide multiple port numbers for softphone to connect I do not think you can do it with Genesys...

  • I really mean running multiple instances of TServer, on the same machine but each provide a different TCP/IP Port number. So the client can call TOpenServerEx using the same server name/ip address but different Port numbers.

  • Bill,

We have done this using one RS6000 and 2 TServer instances running from the one install using 2 different command files. The two instances speak on different ports. However we are effectiveley running 2 seperate instances as the 2 TServers have different config servers and hence there are no naming issues. Not sure if one config server would support 2 TServers with the same name.

The desktop phone picks up the correct TServer by registry settings which can be changed by the launch icon.

  • You can have multiple tservers in CME ( use different app names ) have them listen on different ports ( if tservers reside on same machine). In the switch section assign appropriate tserver to switch group. It doesn't matter if it is all on one box or several. Basically this setup can make it easy to test features of external routing etc in a simulated environment for example.

  • We were running multiple instances of a TServer for Meridian on the same machine and did not have anything to worry about. Just make sure that the management port is not the same for both of them. :)

  • Hi Vic:
What do you mean by Multiple Instances of Tserver. Do you mean different Tserver application names? I didnt get you. Can you be a little bit clear.

    Thanks,
    Ramesh.
