Creating multiple Places in the CME

I've got a considerable number of places and shortcuts I need to create in the configuration manager and would like a faster way than creating each of them individually. I could do this in the database itself, of course, but first I'd have to figure out the tables and all the keys, and there's considerable risk in manipulating the database.
The CME is a pain in the neck because there's so much typing required.
Because I'm duplicating definitions between switches, I need to put some text on these guys -- e.g., call them "Place1", "Place2", etc.
Is there a way to generate a batch of these without typing all day?

Right Click on the switch on the configuration manager->wizard->range of DN's
From there you can massively create new extensions, their corresponding places and automatically create the shortcuts of those dn's to the places.

That helps only a little. I can already create a range of DNs in the switch. While this lets me link the new DN to the place, I have to have already created the place. That's the time-consuming part I want to avoid, as each one has to be individually created.

Please take a look at Configuration Import Wizard. If you have it installed, you will be able to access it through CME menu: Tools->Configuration Import Wizard.

It has an option (create a new range of DNs and Places - DN Range wizard), which will allow you to create a range of DN and associate them to places. It might work for you.

Thanks

It looks like the configuration import wizard is not installed; in the "Tools" drop-down, it's grayed out.
There's a wizard that shows when I right-click. That's what I thought was meant.
I'll have to get the configuration import wizard and install it.
Thanks.
