GVP and Connid

I've been told by Genesys Support that I can use session.genesys.connid from within a VoiceXML template to access the ConnID which is tracked by Tserver. Can anyone verify that this is possible? Are there alternatives?  My end goal is to pass the ConnID to the VXML server so it knows which call is which.
