how to integrate media server with traditional PBX?

Hi , Friends,

I setup a MCP working as media server like stream manager.
It works properly in a standalone gvp environment.
(I can use voice treatment in my routing strategy, like playing an announcement, or busy treatment)
Then I try to make it work with traditional PBX together,
Is there any body know how to configure all related components to make it work?
like PSTN connector, cti connectiro, mcp, tserver, sip server?
is there any document to describe this integration?
I know there is a document: 81gvp_ig_vps.pdf, but it looks like it's not specific for media server integration.

Hi Kevin,

I'm not sure I do understand your question... Are you trying to integrate IP-based Media Server with TDM-based PBX? Why?

That's exactly what I mean.
Since we already successfully integrated GVP with Nortel PBX. (pstn connector, cti connector, ivr server, tserver, sipserver, all these component work together well)
Then my manager wanted to use mcp work as media server.
Maybe he thinks it provides more flexiblity than use PBX voice treatment?

there is a document: genesys media server 8.1 deployment guide.
I just followed this document to deploy MCP working as media server, similar to stream manager working together with sip server.

do you mean only in a pure ip environment we will use MCP as media server, in a hybrid environment we still use pbx as voice treatment function?

Hi Kevin,

It will be almost impossible to force your PBX using Media Server for playing treatments... Of course, you can transfer call to SIP Server if your PBX supports SIP and use Media Server for a routing strategy executed on SIP Server's Routing Point.

is it possible using IVR(gvp) as busy treatment instead of media server way??? since my gvp works as behide mode, all ivr ports are configured and integrated with Nortel Tserver.

Hi,

I have minimal knowledge about Nortel switches but don't think Nortel can use any 3rd party device incl. GVP for providing the treatments.
