GVP ports not showing as busy when Call in Play Application

Hello,

I am looking for an answer from any GVP experts on whether the following set up should work.

We are using a URS centric routing strategy which plays a vxml application within IRD.
However in order to ensure we have enough capacity to deal with the volume of calls it was thought the calls would take a voice treatment port (vtp) but upon testing and monitoring through ccpulse the GVP places are not showing any activity.  In addition although we only have 5 vtp's in our test lab, yet were able to make 6 calls and all were given the announcements within the vxml of the play application object.

The question is why are the GVP ports/places not showing as busy when I made the call, or is it right that the voice treatment ports are not used in this scenario?
Set up as follows:
SIP 8
GVP 8.1
URS 8
IRD 8
Composer 8

Thanks,
Wasim

AFAIR you have to integrate GVP through IVR Server (CTI Connector) for required functionality.

The functionality to use the voice treatment ports?

It is the concern of having enough capacity to deal with the volume we are trying to determine.
Thanks,

The functionality to monitor them in CCP+.

MCP Ports are shared between voicexml, conference, announcement etc (depending on configuration). When defining Resource Group you specify port-capacity of MCP. You can also specify some limits in IVRProfile. When all available ports are used - the PlayApplication treatment fails (RM response is 480 Temporarily Unavailable) and strategy goes through the red port. For now I don't know a method to ask of port-usage before PlayApp block (without CTI Connector).

I've just attended GVP Deployment and I can say you more. In general GVP 8.1.2+ is not designed to be monitor in CCPulse. For GVP monitoring you have Monitoring tab of Genesys Administrator. With Reporting Server you can observe current GVP usage per tenant/mcp/IVRProfile. With RS connected to some DB, you also can have some historical reports within GA. When RS is working in NoDB mode - only real-time monitoring is possible.

You can use some trick to monitor GVP in CCP+. Before PlayAppBlock set some empty target and use VQ without ClearTarget checked. Then in CCP+ you will be able to see how many calls are currently in GVP (on this VQ). With this method you will be able to monitor GVP even per IVRProfile (with multiple VQs), but not per single MCP instance.  So I would recommend to use Genesys Administrator which offers some additional functionality.

Installation with VTP is possible, with CTI Connector and IVR Server. But this mode is not recommended (because CTIConnector has no HA and available only for Windows) and required only in special environments (per example when migrating from gvp 7.6 env or in situation when SipSever can't provide DNIS).

Hope this help.
