This is an idea and I'd appreciate your comments on it.
You all probably know and have experienced in the past the Genesys versioning and updating policy: If you don't ask for new versions, you don't get them.

Therefore there are quite a dozen of versions of every component out there and it is sometimes hard to find out whether you are running on the latest version or not. It is even more difficult to find out which versions are out there.

I am thinking about creating a (sub)forum on the planetgenesys.net site where people just post their installed versions. This would at least allow us to see which versions are out there.

Obviously the concept only works with contributing users. So: Would you post yours?

  • I would post my versions if it helps anyone, but what I usually do is, every month download the latest release notes for all my components. That way I can check it against my list of versions and see if there are any problems fixed that I have, or indeed don't know that I have.
As you know, upgrading to the latest version, just because it is the latest, sometimes brings more problems than you already have :(

  • I agree.
We experienced that even the release notes available on Genesys technical support site sometimes do not reflect the latest available versions because it seems as if they release versions to fix specific customer problems from time to time.

It would perhaps make sense to also report back "known issues" with specific versions.

Yes, you are right: Usually all this information should be maintained in the Release Notes but we all know the current documentation accuracy level of Genesys...

  • It would be nice if Genesys had some sort of mail service that you could subscribe to, that would either send to you or imform you of updates to documentation or new versions of software etc.

A 'known issues' section would definately be good, as a forewarning of what awaits you in a new version.

  • I would check on the GEnesys Support Web Site as I get an automatic email about once a month listing product updates. So it looks as if the process is in place, its just finding it. I have the email address of the person who sends out the updates if anyone wants.

  • I am on the same list already. The thing is, that Genesys tends to issue subsubversions to address specific customer problems. These versions are never officially released but are better than the ones out there.
