can someone please tell me what GCIP is and why we need it? ???

I did not know about GCIP... I just saw that video and all I can think is...uhm...what is it???

Also,  http://www.genesyslab.com/products/demo is pretty good start!!! Wow :)

But how in the world did you find the link to GCIP video???

Well as they have stated, they have pitched it primarily for hosted solutions.

They have a different interface for entering data into CME, their own security model, etc.  (One problem with the security model is that its within GCIP and not in CME, so traditional CME security does not apply).

The router tool looks more like a flow charting tool, and it does not currently have all the IRD functions available (Its been a while since I've seen the tool so some of this may have changed)

GCIP is the outcome from Ralf Rottmann and Peter Nowack, former managers at two Genesys customers: Lufthansa and Deutsch Telekom's T-Mobile subsidiary.  These fellows had various constituencies within their companies that wanted some level of control of the corporate GVP platform.  So they got together and created VoicInt Telecommunications GmbH. in 2004, HQ'd in Dortmund [i](at that time)[/i] , VoiceInt are now HQ'd in Köln.  They approached Genesys and came to an agreement in 2006 where Genesys would OEM their product.  Later GCIP extended to "assisted service" and that's where the routing functionality came in.

As noted previously, this product is targeted toward large Managed Service Providers like HP's EDS division, IBM, West Interactive, as well as large corporations that have multiple business units.

VoicInt created a subsidiary called SDE Software Development Engineering GmbH specifically for GCIP, and Alcatel/Genesys completed the purchase of this subsidiary in Jan, 2009.

    • Aaaah, Ralf... Yes, remember that fellow about 9 years ago. Very interesting! Very Genesys oriented, very knowledgeable! Great to know that he succeeded!

    Based on further review, I think the idea of GCIP is actually very interesting, depending on how you use it. If there was a way to make it a workflow engine, it would be a very nice thing indeed...
