GPlus adaptor for Siebel

We are finally going to move to G6 sometime this year, at the same time we are moving to Siebel 7 from Siebel 99. We were using the Siebel CTI softphone and passing a few things from the IVR to Siebel for screen pops with the COM/OLE. We have a very basic Genesys set up using nothing above the TServer. Now I was told by two separate parties that we would have to purchase the GPlus adapter from Genesys to continue to pass information between Genesys and Siebel. Any truth to it, or can we do it ourselves. Any input would be great. Thanks.

  • I've contacted a specialist on CTI in Siebel. He said in Siebel 7 you need to install OLE and GPLUS on server side. But GPLUS adapter is for intergration with ICC. If you don't need this option. I think you don't need it.

Actually, the Gplus Adapter can be used for voice only, or for voice and multimedia. It's a very simple adapter to install and configure.

Thanks for the input, I'm not worried about installation, but about the cost of the adaptor. All I need is the same funcionality I had before upgrading both systems without paying through the nose for it.

In fact Siebel has discontinued providing an outof heox CTI toolbar. What they do now is that they provide their API to the Siebel Communications Server.
The GPlus adaptor for Siebel is actually only available for voice actually, the release that will support Outbound and ICS will come later this year.
You also have to know that the GPlus is not developed in OLE(not supported any more by Genesys) but in ActiveX written in C/C++.
Finally the configuration work for the GPlus is exactly the same as the one for the Siebel CTI toolbar for versions until Siebel2000.
