Anyone know if there is a switch setting for the Nortel Meridian 1 Option 61C that disables a ringback when transferring to a VTO port? Or another workaround so the caller will not hear the ringing into the port?

Todd,
As a work around, You may use the Genesys "Busy" treatments.
They could be use if you make a target selection (using a target selection object in the strategy) on the VTO ports. for example: define them as a group of places and make a selection with a time out of X seconds on that group.
In this case you could use "silence" or "music" treatment employing a music "ressource" inside the PBX.

  • I'm currently using busy treatments from a routing object. Problem is when i play a VTO message, it rings into the VTO port giving the perception that the call is being transferred to a rep. I'm hoping there is a setting on the switch to disable the ringing.

Generically, ring tone generation for analogue ports can be surpressed on any switch. Depends on whether you are the switch engineer, the CTI engineer or both!

Ring Tone Generation is basically an audible line sound, which does not necessarily open the called port, so it should be OK to switch off, for the VTO Ports only. Be aware that other devices on the switch may be affected if Ring Tone Generation is switched off (FAX's, etc.)

I hope this helps, even if I haven't actually told you how to do it...

Nope, that helps. I'm not the switch tech. He's saying it cannot be done, that it was a function of Symposium, which didn't make any sense to me. Figured i'd double check what i was hearing.

    Thanks!
