Avoid DN registration

I noticed that using TServer 6.5.x I am able to register and take control over any single extension defined on the PBX (Avaya G3) using a generic Softphone app. Whether or not the DN is defined in CME doesn't make a difference.

According to Genesys the issue is solved in 7.0. I am wondering if someone knows how to prevent registration of unwanted DNs in a Avaya G3 and Genesys 6.5 Environment.

Maybe some configuration on the PBX side?

DN information in CME is for Genesys application reference only when statserver starts, it reads CME and then registers all the directory numbers listed there with TServer. Registering DNs in CME will not prevent Tlib or ActiveX control from being able issue register requests with ThisDN value.

I can think of a REALLY ugly way to do it, but before doing it, wouldn't be much easier to just modify softphone so that agent could only register dn's assigned to him? Or, if you want to make it really cool, have softphone access CME person and based on the profile get the DN assigned to it.

Of course, you can always disable CTI on DNs inside PBX...
But, I am sure there is even a easier way... Anyone?

  • Hi Vic

The problem is not with Agent's Softphone. Softphone that agents use is fully integrated with CME an is secure. The problem is about someone using the generic Genesys' softphone.

I am trying to prevent, anyone to take control of any extension if for whatever reason that "anyone" has a softphone compatible with Genesys.

    Any ideas?
