Hi All,
Does anyone have some experience with GVP and/or StreamManager running virtualised?
Our SI is proposing to put GVP 8.1 and StreamManager on VMWare 3.5 but I have some serious doubts.

Thanks
Russell

Genesys supports VMWare starting from v7.5. I can't see any issues in using it for lab / pre-prod, I would be very careful for production.

Hi Russell,
we successfully using SM in our production system under MS Hyper-V infrastructure about 1,5 year. all works fine, except already patched problem wirh McAfee antivisrus software.

Fra,
I also don't have a problem with virtualised for dev/test type environments. Like you I have doubts about using it in prod. I know that Genesys supports VMWare (I was Genesys PS until 2 weeks ago) but I also know that unless you get the environment right you are asking for a world of hurt. Genesys will support you but not fix a problem that may be caused by the underlying infrastructure.

WBR Thaler (what does that mean or is it your name?),
What sort of loads are you running to SM? Is the infrastructure a dedicated box for Genesys or do you have other VMs running on it? Do you use something like CPU affinity to dedicate some resources to the SM VM?

Thanks for the feedback!

We use SM for play treatment, annonsment, moh, conference, recording -  full feature set in use. it's dedicated box for Genesys. one server (like HP DL380G5 2xDualCore Xenon, 8 GB RAM, Win2008) for about 4 VM. One SM server for about 400RUE. No, we do not use affinity  - all VM have equal resources.

Ah, there is my problem. The VM environment is under control of a different group and is shared for a bunch of other stuff. We wont be able to control where the VMs run or what other VMs are running on the blade. That is what concerns me. I think I will just recommend physical servers for SM and the MCP part of GVP.

Thanks for the help
