No Agent License - Genesys Desktop
« on: November 13, 2014, 02:16:12 AM »

We are using 2 intances of Genesys Desktop, seems to be newest version: IP_GDesktop64_7640215b1_ENU_windows (released in March 2014). These 2 instances are installed on separated Windows Server hosts, runing active-active.
Yet many time we met "No Agent License" Error when trying to log in some user by one GAD, they can be logged in only on the other GAD.
I know this was the old issue but do we have any idea this time around?
Thanks so much.

Ok, Can you tell me what number of licenses you have configured into GAD application, how many actual licences you have.

Hi,
thank you for your question, which is also a solution. I realize I should devide the number of license to both GAD, that means if I have license for 400 agent seat, each GAD instance will be assigned 200. Is it your idea?
regards

If you are trying to do load balance or some kind of HA you need to purchase more licenses, if not, you will fail on some point to log only half users.
Check GAD docs for HA

Hi Cagnavaro,
we are trying to do Load Balance between 2 GAD, using apache as GAD deployment guide. Can you explain further about purchasing more license?
I have assigned each GAD instances value 200 to "num-of-agent" option, cause I have license for 400 seat. By using Apache load balance, is there a high risk, as you said, that fails when half of agents logging in?

cav is ok
So you are doing load balance, on GAD you configure a limit of licenses, so if one goes down, how would the other know that his pair has dead (remember he has no connection to other GAD) and must get 400 licenses which is even a manual change and requires a restart?

So you need to buy 400 licenses for GAD1 and 400 for GAD2

If simple solution to your problem.

1) Set no. of licences in the GAD application to 10 instead of 200.
2) Stop both the GAD Servers and re-read the license file using LMtools.
3) Start the GAD servers ... ;)

You will find no issues then, 200 is vey high value, and GAD is designed to pick 200 licenses in a single go and keep them into the cache, lets suppose your 10 licences got stuck, and you are trying to login 191 user, then GAD will again try to pick 200 more licesces from LM.

This value in GAD application decide the no. of licences picked from LM in one attempt, does not any limit :)

:o :o
Must try that...
So limit is on FlexLM directly then when he can't provide more licenses?
