Dear all,

this is a call for people to join our Amazon Connect softphone development project in exchange for sharing the revenue from it when we sell it. This may not be a Genesys project, but it sure is relevant to most of us.

Key points
[li]We run a company in Japan that deploys and maintains Genesys, Avaya, Verint and other products for dozens of clients with over 25,000 seats in total [/li]
[li]We also have tens of thousands of backoffice seats under our care[/li]
[li]We have a dedicated call center sales, engineering and development staff[/li]
[li]Amazon Connect is about to take call centers and backoffices by storm [/li]
[li]Only two companies are offering Amazon Connect softphone at the time[/li]
What we are proposing:

[li]Instead of our company developing yet another softphone, we crowdsource it on this forum[/li]
[li]The product will be sold in Japan and other countries to our existing and future clients[/li]
[li]Revenue from the softphone subscription will be shared with people engaged in the project [/li]
Why we think it is a win-win:
[li]Between all of us we have all the necessary skillset and our company has the sales channels[/li]
[li]Unlike Avaya and Genesys where you had to entice people to use the product, majority of companies use AWS so Amazon Connect will be a natural extension [/li]
[li]Do you really need me to continue to explain this to you?[/li]
Specifically, we are looking for the following skillsets: programmers, testers, debuggers, documentation.

We will be starting our development from September 1st, 2018, so if you think you got what it takes - contact Victor at the email address you should already know.

Why we decided to do it

More and more of call center software move to a subscription model, where revenue is bypassing SIers. This maybe good for the end-users, but as an SIer, I ask myself where will my revenue come in a year? two years? three years? Until recently, it has been a combination of labor, development, product license and maintenance contracts. Now, it seems we are heading where only labor is the only thing that will be billable. The rest will be provided directly by the vendor to the end-user. Genesys and Avaya are oversaturated with third-party products, and most of them are being rendered obsolete by Genesys or Avaya themselves offering similar products as part of the offering.

With Amazon Connect, I feel there is still opportunity. Amazon Connect goes beyond call center and targets backoffice as well. And people in this forum are perfectly positioned to take advantage of it. Between the all of us we have the call center knowhow, development experience, testing experience, and in cases like mine, ability to present to product to our customers.

Are you no longer selling Genesys?

We feel that the first few years Genesys and Amazon Connect will not be competing and are targeting different segments in terms of size, functionality and longevity.

Why not just reseller some other product?

Amazon Connect is not designed with VAR in mind. Amazon Connect products are bought directly from Amazon Marketplace by an end-user, therefore, you need to own the software in order to sell it. It would be meaningless for a VAR to sell a product the usual way when users can and should buy it through the marketplace. The only way for us to retain the relationship with the user and also see the revenue is to publish our own product.

So, if you are interested, and can dedicate your time to it over the next three months, please contact Vic!

I’m not a great developer, but I know the basics for C# and Java, and some solid knowledge in SIP. If possible, I would like to participate too
