Hi,

pretty simple question - does Genesys bill by the number of concurrent logins or concurrent calls?

Also,  is there a way to prevent system from going over that limit?

Hi Victor, it depends on your billing mode/plan:

Named user

A billable named user is anyone who has logged in to the Genesys Cloud CX service at least once during the billing period. The user type billed is the highest-level license they were assigned during the billing period.

By-the-hour pricing

By-the-hour pricing allows businesses to choose Genesys Cloud CX and only pay for the hours they use. It can be a good model for firms with many part-time users or very spiky intra-month peaks where many users are needed for only a few days.

Concurrent license

Concurrent users are supported only for Genesys Cloud CX 1, 2, or 3 plans. If a concurrent license model is selected, all Genesys Cloud CX users are licensed as concurrent. Genesys Cloud CX does not support a mix of named and concurrent user types. In a concurrent licensing model, Genesys charges for the maximum number (peak) of concurrent (simultaneous) users during a billing period. To support shift changes, usage peaks shorter than 30 minutes in duration are disregarded. The charges reflect the highest Genesys Cloud CX level license that users were assigned during the billing period. Concurrent billing in Genesys Cloud CX is limited to organizations contained within a single geographic region.

Concurrent is a license that can essentially be shared. These licenses are invoiced based on the peak number of users active on the platform within a billing cycle.
