TServer for Nortel Option 11 81C

Hello,

Can anyone tell me what is required on the Nortel Merdian side for the CTI link to the Genesys TServer? Any special software required on the Nortel end? I know for Avaya I need software and MAPD connection, what is the Nortel Merdian equivalent?

Option 11 81C two very differing versions of the Meridian with regard to their size. The Option 11 will sit nicely on your desk and the Option 81 will need a decent sized part of your data centre and power many hundreds of extensions/positions. As far as Genesys is concerned they offer the same functionality, the 11C will run a 2030ish phones.

To answer you question we need two words: 'Symposium Server'. Connectivity used to be via MLink but this was dropped a few years back by Nortel in favour of Symposium. If memory serves me correct MLink used to be an autonomous system running FreeBSD (the username and password used to be easy to guess so you could access the OS directly!)

You will need SCCS 4.2 (Symposium) to connect your Nortel to Genesys. It costs a pretty penny and does not do much, except as act as a link between the two. I wonder why Genesys did not just figure a way to connect to Nortel directly!

Symposium 4.2 is no longer shipped by Nortel. Symposium 5.0 is the version currently being shipped.

I'm note sure if this has changed at all since we put Symposium 3.0 in place almost 6 years ago, but we experienced a problem with link when we ran the full Symposium product, and found that we had to turn off most of the Symposium services to get the link to play well with Genesys. Again I'm not sure if this still the case, but as we are still running Symposium 3.0, we still run only 4 of the 22 services that are available on that version of Symposium.

Two words................"Symposium Link", it does not require the full blown version of Symposium. Version 6 is available now.

You will need Symposium Link and connect to the CLan port of the nortel

According to Nortel it is possible to link to the Meridian PBX via the E-Lan.
It can accomidate up to 16 devices.
You'll need to build a ELAN and then a VAS referring to the ELAN number.
And of course a physicall connection to your hub or isolated switch.
