SIP server + Tserver

I'm sure somone out there done this.

I'd like to bring in SIP server to our existing Tserver-only-environment for remote agent.
So, I'll have one existing config server, one new sip server for remote agent and a existing Tserver for head quarter agent.

And one URS routing calls between sip server remote agent and HQ Tserver agent.

Is this mean I need to setup multi site routing with two switching offices?

My short answer would be yes, because SIP Server would be seen as a different switch.

Treat it the same way as you would a multi-site environment and you should be fine.

I also like to use asterisk for voip switch for the sip server.
And I'm not clear on how to go about doing...

An Asterisk will be behind switch and have a line side T1. And it connected to another asterisk box then sip server.
Or just one asterisk box with T1 and connect to sip server.

Call path I'm thinking is....

ivr -> route point (URS) -> if flag=remote agent -> target remote agent
                                    if flag = Hq agent -> target hq agent

You can find on genesys support site, white paper for coupling asterisk as softswitch for SipServer.
DN Agents are registered on asterisk and on genesys side a subcribe trunk is used to "monitor" the presence.
You also can have a gateway on asterisk for inbound or outbound calls genesys.
You always needs to have a genesys desktop application to make agent login, ready or not ready.

Thanks, I read the doc couple times.
Since I don't have multi site routing experience, I'm kind of having a problem visualizing the whole picture.

First question is:
do I need a gateway (asterisk with line side T1)?
I'm thinking I do. Because gateway interface with pbx and transfering calls from Tserver to Sip server.

Do I need another asterisk box that talks to Sip server?

what is your actual switch for hq agents ?
You need a gateway connected to asterisk and to your actual switch (actual switch <==> Gateway <==> Asterisk <==> Sip Server)
You need to manage iscc that is way for TServer to reach the SipServer via the Gateway (and reverse).
After that URS will be able to make decision for routing to hq agents or Asterisk agents monitored by sipserver.

The picture I'm getting is...

I would need to have an asterisk box (gateway) with line side T1 interfacing nortel pbx.
So I have symposium link tserver and its associated switching office in CME as well as some kind of virtual switch that is talking to an asterisk pbx and this talks to an asterisk gateway box.
And routing between two tservers via multi routing features in URS.

Is this correct assumption?

For the softphone that talks to SIP server, Do I need a sip enabled softphone genesys?

For the softphone, you can use eyebeam or other one. Our customer Groupama Banque use it for 250 sip agents.
They also have multisite routing with Nortel PBX and symposium.
