Why do HBA softphone connect to AES ?

Hi,
Am a little bit confused in the HBA softphone concept.

For a normal genesys softphone, it just connects to its t-server whereas an HBA softphone it connects to both T-Server and AES, can you please help me understand why it does ?

My only knowledge is that HBA uses AES as it makes an external call to get connected to its physical device ( extension or mobile ), in that case, even the normal softphone needs AES as it would also be used to make outgoing calls.

Thanks for you help in advance

Cheers
Karthik

  • House based agent softphone I guess is a bit a generic term..if you are not specific, we can't say anything..

  • There is not much difference in HBA and normal softphone. thats the reason why i raised this question.......what makes an HBA connect to a seperate AES, where as other softphones just connects to T-server.

    Cheers

  • The point is that there are not "standard HBA softphone". It may have two parts, the telephony one which connects to the switch and the CTI one to connect to TServer, so that a physical teleset is not needed.
That is just an assumption, you should ask the developer to get all the right answers..
