MCR Java Memory Errors...?

Hi everyone!

Here's something that has been floating around in our environment for a while....

MCR email - java - eats a little bit more memory each time an Agents logs into GAD (expected behaviour) - doesn't release the memory when the Agent logs out and eventually max's out the memory allocation (undocumented feature..!).  Current workaround is to restart GAD and associated services on a regular basis.

The current mem allocation (xmm) for java is (as recommended by Genesys) 1024.  We've mainly 7.2 apps, with some 7.6 components....

Anyone come across this.. and have some advice that doesn't include restarting services on a regular basis...?

Thanks!

Tony

  • Hi Tony,

Are you sure that MCR Email Server Java is the problematic Java component? There is no connection between GAD and MCR Email Server (ESJ) and ESJ doesn't handle any agent operations like login/logout. ESJ is interface between Genesys Multimedia (MCR) platform and "mail world" based on POP3/IMAP protocols.

If you have troubles with GAD "eating" lot of memory then I would recommend you to check release notes of version 7.6. There were some memory leaks related to supervisor operation found and fixed in later releases.

  • Hi Rene,

Gonna have to get back to you on that one... we've got some jiggery-pokery (<technical term!) going on in our config and I htink we may use GAD in a rather perculiar way...

I'll clarify in my next note... :)

    Thanks!

  • OK - Rene,

It is GAD itself which is causing Java memory issues.  If you look at my post, there is nothing about email components - hence the reason I was confused by your comments!

GAD is (mainly) 7.6.01.012 and, whilst we have raised SR's with Genesys, it remains a problem, despite any release notes.  The issue is not with GSD or Supervisors options - it is with memory allocation to GAD clients which is simply not released when the client logs out...

  • Hi Tony,

Your post starts with "MCR email - java - eats a little bit" so I wrongly assumed you're writing about Email Server Java. Sorry for that.

The release 7.6.01.012 is the version that fixes memory leak related to supervisor sessions. If you're still facing Java memory issue then Genesys TechSupport is the only who can help you...

  • I thought that might be the case - thanks Rene...

I think I was looking for anyone who had also noticed that, with the 7.6.01.012 GAD Java memory is not reclaimed, as Agents log out of GAD, to make a point that there is something wrong with the Genesys build.  I'm hoping it's not just us...! :)

  • Rene... My apologies - I didn't mean to confuse you - I re-read my note and it obviously states "MCR - email" in the text...

    Sorry!
