GForce APAC

So how many on here went to the Australian G-Force over the last 3 days?

Are we all fired up to "Transform Customer Experience"?

Personally I didn't see a great deal of innovation going on this time round, no new shiny products that I didn't know about.  All in all quite disappointing, from a strictly Technical perspective.  Although this is not surprising, G-Force isn't a technical conference, it's a business thing where we all learn what to say to customers for the next 12 months. :P

Valuable lessons learnt though:

1 - You find wedding bands on ledges in Hotel rooms.
2 - iiNet sounds like an interesting company to work for.
3 - People hide money in hotel bibles.
4 - The chairs in the main auditorium were more uncomfortable than usual.
5 - Airline pilots apparently hide porn between hotel mattresses.
6 - Genesys continues to drive everything towards GVP and SIP.
7 - Interaction workspace for version 8.0 still looks too good to be true.

Anyone else have any random thoughts, interesting stories from the dinner, or general garbage to share?

Hi Dionysis,

I didn't go to the APAC GForce but I did go to the Europe GForce and my thoughts are very similar.
Are we all fired up to "Transform Customer Experience"?
Yawn, will someone wake me up when Genesys have an interesting marketing idea.
G-Force isn't a technical conference
I agree, Genesys pretend it is by offering the Education Day - do they have it at APAC? Genesys just don't get that there is huge appetite for techie involvement - sharing ideas and making better use of Genesys would drive lots more sales for them. But then they try and sell over-priced training and PS to us instead.

Points 1 to 4, I can't comment.

Point 5, I'll ask my neighbour if this is true  ;D

Point 6,
Genesys continues to drive everything towards GVP and SIP.
Don't forget the various flavours of XML in v.8 including SCXML for URS v.8.

Point 7,
Interaction workspace for version 8.0 still looks too good to be true.
I saw it at Daly City and it looks like a huge step forward and something to drool about. I have a gut feeling that the first few implementations will be nightmares as we all learn to use it at a business and technical level. The Product Manager involved is one of the nicest people I have ever met too!

Basically all Genesys are interesting in is schmoozing the IT Directors\VPs and telling these people that they have made the right decision to buy\use Genesys.

Yes, iWD does look interesting.

Although when you work in the outsourcing world it's use is fairly limited.  I have nowhere I could implement it except for 10 or 15 tech support seats, although I will be hitting our sales rep up for some trial licenses as soon as it's available. ;)

Genesys Advisor (Informiam) looks good too, but as I understand it you can't just get the software.  You have to have PS install and customise it for your environment.

For now I guess we keep wringing every last bit of functionality out of the products we have.
