Hi Guys,

It's been a while since I have posted, but wanted to clarify the situation in order to reassure you. Afterall, Genesys was completely absorbed by ALU in 2000 when they bought us! :)

But seriously, there are NO plans to get rid of Genesys - far from it. The announcements focus on the fact that:

- Genesys has been merged with the Enterprise Group of ALU, in order to better address the enterprise market with a broader portfolio of products
- In this merger Genesys becomes a brand instead of a subsidiary.
- Our products remain and the full G8 launch is on track for later this year.
- The Genesys brand is highly valued within ALU and will actually absorb some of the existing (and yet-to-be-launched ALU products), where appropriate.
- G-Force(s) will still exist and be taking place throughout April.

I hope this goes some way to re-assuring you. The confusion may have arisen since the field sales teams are the people most 'integrated'. The former ALU and Genesys sales teams have been very closely aligned in order to improve our ability to serve customers better...

Anyway, hope this helps. We actually held our annual analyst conference a couple of weeks ago in SF and the announcements and vision were very well received. Some of the coverage can be seen on twitter by searching: #GenesysAR

Take Care, Paul

Paul,

thank you for your follow up.

So, are we still going to have Genesys Tech Support, or will it be ALU Tech Support from now on?
Also, what is going to happen to Genesys Regional Offices? For example, here in Japan we have Genesys Japan office - will it be absorbed into ALU office? If so, what will happen to existing sales and support engineers currently working at Genesys? Will these people just have ALU instead of Genesys on their cards, or will we need to start introducing ALU sales to our existing Genesys clients?

Furthermore, how will it affect Avaya+Genesys configuration - ALU was very focused on OmniPCX rollout here - how will we be able to preserve Genesys PBX-independence? Or is it no longer something available to us?

Hi Vic,

Those are quite illogical questions you have. You should probably change your horror books you are reading for something more optimistic ;)

Hi Vic, Here goes...

So, are we still going to have Genesys Tech Support, or will it be ALU Tech Support from now on?
So, technically the Genesys TS group now sits within ALU customer care group, but Genesys will still have dedicated tech support. It's more from a reporting structure...

Also, what is going to happen to Genesys Regional Offices? For example, here in Japan we have Genesys Japan office - will it be absorbed into ALU office?
Depends on a country by country, city by city basis. We will certainly look to create efficiencies where possible and where it makes sense. Some offices will be merged, others retained. I don't have visibility into specifics with Japan but there certainly wont be some mass consolidation.

If so, what will happen to existing sales and support engineers currently working at Genesys? Will these people just have ALU instead of Genesys on their cards, or will we need to start introducing ALU sales to our existing Genesys clients?
We will still have dedicated account teams to service customers. That will not change. All sales people will technically be ALU enterprise sales people, but with a wider portfolio of products to offer to your clients!

Furthermore, how will it affect Avaya+Genesys configuration - ALU was very focused on OmniPCX rollout here - how will we be able to preserve Genesys PBX-independence? Or is it no longer something available to us?
Genesys products are and will continue to be platform independent. We certainly would not wish to ruin one of our biggest USP's.

Anyway, hope this helps...

Paul

Ok, it seems like this is just a follow up on the previously discussed plan on moving Genesys into ALU. I guess everyone knew this but me...  :-X

Overall, this seems to be a really great idea for Europe, but Japan - I am not sure how exactly it would play out. ALU is  not visible here except for on a carrier side, so when you say Alcatel here, it is similar to probably saying Pratt & Whitney in Scotland - yes, we have heard of it, but it is hardly suited for our sheep.  ::)

I guess what matters is how we adapt to it. Any thoughts?

Vic,
Hmm, would that be akin to a Macallan Fine & Rare?  ;)

I've been hearing the same as what Paul stated as well as what Cav says.  Looks like they aren't going to change the branding or the client facing organization........for now.  Management and administration will fully merge according the scuttlebutt I'm hearing.
