GAD / Active Directory

Hello,

For anyone using GAD, is Active Directory integration possible for this?

We want to know if it possible for agents to load GAD without having to subsequently type in their username/extension.

Can GAD pick up the agents username from the PC login?
Thanks,
WA

No that I'm aware of. But ConfigServ can have LDAP integration, but will require to reinstall it.

I think that you are asking 2 different questions here -

Can an Active Directory be used for GAD? - yes we do it, to enforce a password policy, password ageing, min length, not reusing passwords etc.

Can GAD pickup the login details from the PC? We did look at this briefly and concluded that it could possibly be done in 2 ways. Using a script to get the login from the registry and passing this forward to GAD, or writing the login details to a text file (.ini file) and using this to forward to GAD. Of the 2 the second seemed the best solution as the place would need to be gathered and this is not in the registry, this would need to be manually added to the file when the PC was deployed.

We gave up for commercial reasons, but technically I can't see why it couldn't be made to work.

Hi Steve,

Following on from this how would i configure an active directory for the passwords as we have too many agents not using passwords and others just using a generic one which isn't ideal?

cheers
