SIP Servers - DR???

Hi!

Quick question...

If it is decided to remove and replace traditional telephony (PBX/ACD) with SIP Services - what are the options for Disaster Recovery?  I mean, you can't use the Switch (basic) Routing capabilities, because they have been removed...  So; is there a SIP DR Solution, at all...?

Thanks!

SIP Server do has an HA option but will lose active calls. This will be achieved using Linux HA mode or MS HA Mode like Virtual IPs.

Hi Tony,

That's a very open and general question you've asked. It all comes down to what your media gateway supports. Are you thinking about complete SIP Server failure or just one (of a pair)?

If its complete failure I know some places have looked at Asterisk for ACD functionality. If it's partial failure then get the gateway to point to an alternative SIP Server.

  • ...ok - it wasnt clear...

I guess the "DR Solution" is also IP based... nothingt to do with any back-up traditional telephony method - makes sense... :)

    Thanks gents!
