Icon 8.0, Infomart 8, Interactive Insights 8 upgrade pointers

Hi,

Has anyone done a 7.6 to 8 migration for the below components:

Icon 7.6.100.27 to Icon 8.0.000.36
Infomart 7.6.010.07 to Infomart 8.0.001.10
Interactive Insights 7.6 to 8.0.001.03

The Icon and Infomart 8 versions are GA. Only the Interactive Insights 8 is still requiring Product Management approval.

I am keen to understand the complexities in the migration and what areas need particular attention/testing.

Was the original 7.6 solution run alongside the 8 solution for a particular period of time or was the upgrade done in a separate environment.

Did the II upgrade have a corresponding Business Objects upgrade and how did that go?

Any advice gratefully received!

Allan

I think you should wait for GIM version 8.1, because there is no migration procedure for GIM DB at present. As i heard in GU, at next version 8.1 it will.

Hmm, no migration procedure........
How do they expect customers with existing data to use it! I guess that it would be possible to run it as a brand new database as long as the business can get data from both 7.6 GIM and 8 GIM until the point that the 7.6 instance can be retired

I asked the same question - they say 'wait for version 8.1' ;) i can assume version 8.0 is something like beta release =\

Fully understand if it is beta. Don't understand then why it is GA?
