Genesys Deskphones?

Hello,

We have an administrative team within our contact centre who will be using the genesys platform, however rather than use headsets, want deskphones for this purpose.
Is this possible?
We are using GAD 7.6, with bria softphone (plantronics headsets), sip 8, gvp 8...

I thought all we need is a USB deskphone, and set up this deskphone on the bria softphone - similarly as we do with the headsets?
Thanks.

Hi,

Yes, it's possible to use hard phone with SIP Server. You can find list of supported hard phones in Genesys Supported Media Interfaces Reference Manual that is available for download from Genesys Support website.

About using Bria with USB hard phone - it may work in theory but I'm not aware of any such product.

R.

If the Hardphone can also be 3PCC then you can use it with GAD, if not you will have problems like auto answer.
As René already said, you can find the supported and tested models on Genesys site, however they don't test ALL phones on the market available...so many...so if you think and have time and want to save some money you can try others and test them and see which one fits the best for you.

We dont want auto answer, just want to use a handset like a back office person would.
Our reason for using genesys/sip would be to use the call recording functionality that is not available on our switch.

Are SIP phones the best option then?
Would we require a bria softphone and GAD?

Trying to find a link/document which would go through how it works.
Thanks.

If you have a SIP hardphone (like http://www.asteriskguru.com/tutorials/thomson_st2030.html) then no need to use Bria.
If they are not going to be used by agents then even no need for GAD...
Just register them as normal SIP endpoints against SIP Server, however for more features you may wanna consider something else like an Asterisk, Cisco, Alcatel, etc. SIP registrar which will provide more features about back office operations.
