G8 and SOAP / SOAP in general

Hi,

SOAP question that continues to befuddle me and I am being hoodwinked.

I heard for ages that Genesys supports SOAP and everything had a SOAP port since forever now. I have never paid attention to it until recently. So, now, that I am all grown up and paying more attention:

Moronic question of the century: can't I just use SOAP to connect to T-Server and StatServer?
It would seem to be that with SOAP, I would be able to pretty much control the calls (T-Server) as well as get all the info from Stat Server without relying on any SDK.

Yes, this is too true to be true, so, what exactly would I need in G7.2 and then G8 to: control calls and get agent states?

Do I need some sort of Genesys server in between? (Can't access support site for now)

I remember I had to use GIS before in 7.2 or so...But G8?!!!

Where did you gather that everything in Genesys uses SOAP? Never heard..  ???
The only application that I'm sure it can open a SOAP socket is CS / CS Proxy.

Hi Vic,

You will still need GIS (Genesys Integration Server) even in G8 if you're after SOAP interface to T-Server/Stat Server. The latest release of GIS supports G8.1.

Fra is right that CS Server (CS Proxy) has built-in SOAP interface but I'm not sure if that can be freely used or any business license is required.

in 8.x URS can be acessed through SOAP (or REST-like HTTP) connection not only for running startegies but to but to
get/subscribe on statistics, etc.
