Application Version Number in GA/SCI

Hello,
Does anyone know where the version number of an application is modified within GA or SCI?
If we upgrade anything, that version can be seen within both, however if we upgrade first, then change the application template, we can only view that template version (so we see 8.1.5 instead of 8.1.504.90).
The field is greyed out so cannot be changed manually.
Only option is to uninstall then reinstall the software which overwrites the value.

You have to change it in Conf DB. The version of installed components are updated during installation (step where you filled connection to the CME).

looks like config server and configserver db need to be restarted for change to show in GA..

I am using following steps during upgrade any component:

1. Backup application options
2. Import a new application template ,if is necessary
3. Reload app template on object in CME
4. Reload default options setting from template
5. Check and configuration of options on object in CME
6. Install upgrade application package

and I never have registered similiar issue as you

I never change the template. if there is a new option that I need I write it down manually. Never had the issue you comment neither.

I agree with you cav,but can exists situation when the reload of template is the best and pure way. However, manually writing out is the easiest and secure way (you have a control over processing changes)

Jummm...don't know...don't convince me hehe...template is just that, a set of options by default. If not configured then the app uses the default ones on code side...you see logs and can modify according to your needs.
Anyway, many ways to do it right, depends on how you like to do it only

I mean situation when you for example upgrade Genesys over than one release (for example from 7.2 to 8.1) - between these version exist a lot of changes of component options.So,it is quite simple to reload new template and manually re-write used options. But,it is only my opinion and each one has an own upgrade procedure. Next argument is,that this topic can be readed by Genesys beginner and is better if they read the "right" processes in Genesys solution.

Same here. On minor versions I never change the template. I just review the differences and decide whether I need to change the default value of any new options added.

I'd never advise to manually update configuration data directly, e.g. using a sql update query. Instead, there's a CME approach where you right click on the application you want to update and choose wizard -> configure. That will bring up an editable application screen where you can edit the application's version. This options is not available in GA for some reason and it does not work for certain application types like Configuration Server.
