Stream Manager to Media Server

Hello,

I am planning to replace stream manager with Media Server. Currently I have two SM and I have created a set of VOIPs targeting these two SMS (mcu1, moh1, mcu2, moh2 etc.).
1) I am planning to copy all media files(announcement, music) from the SMs to the MCPs directories, create an MSML VOIPS and set option msml=true in my SIPServers. Do you believe that this has any downtime? I believe that msml service should be used immediately and no downtime should be realized but I could be wrong.
2) I do not believe so but... Is there a way to use multiple MCPs without installing RM? Something like contact-list in VOIPS DN for RM HA

Thanks in advance

1) If your configuration for MSML will be correct, there should be no downtime
2) Yes, you can use multiple MCP without RM - but, it is not strongly recommended and you will loose options how to scale MCP instances. So, in general, the answer is "no" :-)))

Thanks for the quick response Kubig. I know what you mean. I am planning for a GVP upgrade ( 7.6->8 ) and I would like to take it one step at a time. So I will first install 3 MCPs and change the contact in the SMs for the VOIPs in order to migrate from SM to MCP. When I deploy RM in HA I will change the SIP server msml support=true to tidy them up.  :)>

Understand. Big advantage of MSML is that you will no longer need so many objects for each type of service (moh, announcements, recording, etc.). In case, when you will use RM, you have to enable option "resource-management-by-rm" (do not know exactly name of the option at this moment) on SIP server object .

I agree. One VOIPS for all (although I believe not for REC). And you remember it just fine. The option is resource-management-by-rm as you wrote.

No, for recording there is no need for special object (I know that documentation mentioned it, but from real-life experience, it is not necessary).
