OEM version of TServer?

Does anyone know if Genesys do an OEM version of their TServers? I've been asked to create a solution that would benefit from a screen-pop  (its not a call centre solution, just many many years of Genesys are just too deeply ingrained).

Thanks,

Pavel

I'll ask your PBX manager instead of Genesys. I will have more hopes that they have some CTI more cheap than Genesys for what you need.

Pavel,
A TAPI interface would probably be cheaper. Depends on what interface is available to you PBx.

You know, it turns out that Genesys will start charging soon (if not doing it right now already) for things that it has never done before.

For example, let's say we use Genesys ActiveX to develop a softphone. And because you are using IPMX, Softphone also acts as your phone as well, meaning you can also record the call. Well, now, I hear that not only you will have to pay for the framework seat license, but voice recording license as well. And it does not matter if the voice recording feature is offered by Genesys or not. The fact that using this DN for both voice as well as recording means that you have to pay license for both.

Am I the only one who thinks this is a bit excessive? Is it the same way everywhere else?

Some of us here have been using Genesys for such a long time that I think Genesys should probably start paying us a salary. But, sometimes, I really do not understand what they are trying to do. Don't they understand that ever since Avaya S8720 Genesys is no longer a required addition to PBX, but a a clear competition?

This sort of things make a choice much more difficult...  :-\

Hi Vic,

If it is true that Genesys are going to make TServer licensing more complicated (and more expensive) then it smacks a little of trying to milk customers for more money to keep revenues growing unless they are going to reduce the basic framework per seat cost by an equal amount?  :) Somehow I don't think Genesys will be reducing the seat cost. Genesys should continue to target new maket segments instead. If anyone from Genesys are reading this maybe they would like to contribute to this thread.

Does anyone think that Genesys licensing is a bit to steep already? According to the pricelists, the framework price for screenpops is about 1000 Euros per seat which has blown the solution I was asked to design (and reason for my original post). I am also a little surprised that no-one from Genesys actually contacted me.

What do you mean by license by screen popup?
Do you know there is a Genesys Express suite which is more cheaper than buying Framework alone? It gives you up to 135 licenses and from there price raises. Have you quoted it? I'll give it a try

Hi Cavagnaro,

As Homer Simpson likes to say - Doh!

I checked out the Express prices and they are a lot better especially if a discount can be factored in to. Thanks.

By screen-pop, I meant all I need Genesys for, is for screen-pops.

Thanks again,

Pavel

Pavel,
If all you need to do is screen pop and cost is an issue then why use Genesys ?? There are may other products out there that will give you simular functionality via TAPI. eg www.exceletel.com . Try it out. Their cost is significantly lower.

I'll have to say doh!! too, lol, using all Genesys for just screen pop ups? Those events are handled by any decent pbx that supports TAPI as Haldane quoted. Maybe if you need some other feature then you will consider using GE.
Good luck!
