How to get IR to load strategies at startup?

I have IR configured as a NT Service and I'm trying to get it to load all the strategies attached to the 6 VDNs on startup but it never seems to do so.

I have the "" option set and I do have the ir_back.cdns and ir_back.strategies files in the directory. What else do I need to do? That's all that is specified in the docs.

Eugene,

do you have config server already up and running?
If this is the case, then after building a strategy, and saving it on config server, you can just press that "Load Strategy" button in strategy builder and specify which strategy is attached to what CDN or VDN.

You do not have to specify which strategy is for what cdn in IR, unless you really want to compliate your life!

Have you tried doing that?

I found that out while trying to get the autoload to work. The thing is I'm trying to load the strategies without human intervention. Say the service is down and I have a program that watches the service and tries to restart it. If the service restarts or server reboots for example, someone still needs strategy loader to do a load. The other problem is caused by the Call center's location which is in a different building from the IT support group.

I save my strategies to Configuration Server and use the Load Strategy option from the File menu in Strategy Builder to load my strategies. I have never had to reload strategies when IR goes down. You might want to give this a try.

If you have IR 5.1.5x ( I think this is lowest release ) or greater check the annex tab of your route points ( under DN's and switch ) to see if stragegy is there, when you load using builder this info should be filled in. When IR starts it loads strategy automatically

The problem was I kept looking at the loaded strategies thru Strategy loader and it doesn't show those loaded via Config Manager. Anyway, it's working now (I had to enable Annex view on Config Manager though). Strange that Strategy Loader doesn't know that a strategy is loaded via Config Manager.

Hi Eugene:

When You load a strategy using Strategy Builder (using config server), you wont be able to see those strategies via the strategy Loader. This is the only catch when loading a strategy via the strategy builder. But the advantage is whenever the IR restarts, the strategy gets loaded automatically.

If you want to load a strategy on a CDN via the Strategy Loader, then You have to make sure that you have released the strategy on that CDN via the builder.
Only after making sure that none of the strategies are loaded on a particular CDN via the Builder, you can use the Loader to load a strategy.
