why save strategy on conf server?

would some please share with the rest of us the benefits of storing strategies in configuration server as opposed to local drive?

For some reason, my last reply on this subject "went down the earth spike"...

Saving Strategies to the Config Server means that they are available for *any* (Genesys/Routing) Administrator to update or change them. In larger Call Centres, there are (Genesys/Routing) Administrators for different areas/departments, who change their Strategies frequently. Allowing access to all systemwide (Genesys/Routing) Administrators to locallyengaged Strategies does present problems for those larger Call Centres, hence the need to store and access them locally, for use only by the local Administrator.

I believe you can set up IRD to save Strategies by default to the Config Server.

I wish you could. But, you cannot by default. You need to do something to enable this. Does anyone know what we need to do?
Also, is there still that goddamn 32K limit on the strategy size?

I'll forgive the profanity, since I understand how frustrating Genesys Solutions can be...

64k is the limit, up to Genesys 7.x it is not limited from 7.x onwards. Howevert, there is a function, (called JumpToStrategy), by which you can strap together Strategies, making them smaller in the first instance.

The process for ensuring Strategies can be written centrally to the Config Server runs along the following lines;

Run an (SQL) script provided on the Universal Routing CD.
If you do not already have a DBServer which connects to the Config Server;
Create a new DBServer for IRD.
Install the DBServer as a Client of Config Server.
Create a DAP which uses the new DBServer.
In IRD Server, add in your Config Server DAP in the Connection tab.
Restart all of your Genesys components.

From then on, you can save your Strategies centrally on the Config Server.
